Reiki Session

Are you looking for a modality that treats the whole person including mind, body, and spirit?

Perhaps you are feeling there is more to life then what just meets the eye, more to our existence than the everyday grind. You know you are on a venture and are looking to find out more about yourself, layer by layer, a journey of self-discovery. Maybe you feel a bit stuck and need some space to be lovingly held for you in order to reflect. You have so much to offer, but conceivably it has been hidden inside lying dormant for too long. If you can relate to any of these statements, Reiki may be a good healing modality to give a try.

Reiki is a method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. Beneficial effects of Reiki can include feelings of relaxation and peace, as well as security and wellbeing. One may also experience positive states of consciousness and spiritual experiences during a session. Reiki is simple and natural, working in conjunction with all other medical and therapeutic techniques in order to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is a Japanese technique used for stress reduction and relaxation. Additionally, it also promotes healing.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It also promotes healing. This gentle and non-intrusive hands on healing technique uses spiritual energy to treat physical ailments without using pressure, manipulation, or massage. However, reiki is much more than a physical therapy.

Reiki is holistic in nature, and is able to balance, heal, and harmonize all aspects of the person including the body, mind, emotions and spirit. This creates many beneficial effects that include feelings of peace, serenity and wellbeing. Additionally, reiki can also be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words- Rei which means “God’s wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy.” Therefore, reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. We are more likely to get sick or feel stress of our “life force energy” is low, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

A reiki treatment often feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Miraculous results have been reported.

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki works by positively affecting our life force. Life force flows through us, that is why we are alive. In the physical body, life force flows through pathways known as chakras, meridians, and nadis. Additionally, life force also flows through our aura, or the field of energy around us.

Life force is important because it nourishes and supports the organs and cells of the body, and aids them in functioning. When the flow of life force is disrupted, it affects the physical body by causing diminished function in one or more of the organs or tissues.

The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. When we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative feelings or thoughts about ourselves, our life force becomes disrupted. This is because these negative thoughts and feelings disrupt the flow of life force (by attaching themselves to the energy field). The vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body are diminished by this negative energy.

Reiki flows through the parts of the energy field that have been negatively affected, and charges them with positive energy. In and around the physical body, where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached, the vibratory level of the energy field is raised. As a result, the negative energy breaks apart and falls away. By this process, reiki clears, aligns, and heals the energy pathways. This allows the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way, and facilitates the body to heal.

How Does Reiki Work on My Body as a Whole?

Reiki works holistically on the whole person-including the chakras, aura, body, mind, consciousness, emotions, and spirit.

Reiki helps to clear and balance the chakras and strengthen our energetic pathways (meridians) in order to allow the life-force to flow around our whole body in a healthy, natural and unrestricted manner. It helps to break down energetic blockages or disruptions as it flows into our aura and physical body.

The recipient receives as much or as little reiki as they need at the time, at an appropriate rate of flow because reiki automatically adjusts to suit the recipient.

Reiki works in harmony with all other kinds of treatment including medical and psychological care. (Rand, 2000)

Reiki always works for the highest good of the person receiving it, and heals, harmonizes and balances the whole self.

Why Should You Try Reiki?

The In Short, Quick, Answer:
Reiki is a great modality to:
- promote health and well-being
- cultivate mindfulness
- aid in resilience
- help you feel more alive and connected to your vitality
- helps you feel more connected to your purpose and those around you

The Slightly Expanded Answer:
Reiki allows the body to rest in a deeper, more satisfying, more restorative way than simple downtime. This is in part because of the way that reiki affects the brain as well as the muscles.

Reiki brings the body into a state of rest and very restorative relaxation, which shifts the nervous system from sympathetic (think fight or flight response) to parasympathetic (controls the body’s ability to relax, (think rest and relaxation)).

Reiki energy aids in combating stress, facilitating its release. It can work especially well with subconscious tensions that can be present when your health becomes a challenge.

In an article on the National Institute of Health’s website, entitled STRESS AND HEALTH: Physiological, Behavioral, and Biological Determinants it states: “Stressors have a major influence on mood, our sense of well-being, behavior, and health.” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2568977/)

Therefore, it is easy to see why Reiki’s aid in stress reduction and deeper rest can help facilitate the benefits of “The In Short, Quick Answer” outlined above.
